Annotation: The article gives a brief description of the safe distance as a component of the psycho-physiological model of the driver. It describes the main approaches to obtain a distance of safety - calculation methods and the method of observation. For a specific area the calculation and the observation of the safe distance , the comparison and the analysis of the established results are made.
