Annotation: The article gives a critical assessment of theoretical positions of car’s movement from marshalling hump. There have been given models of marshalling hump as inclined plane with ideal and non-ideal surfaces. It is proved that the formula of velocity of a freely falling body, taking into account the inertia of the rotating parts to determine the speed of the car at all sections of the hump, including the brake position, is incorrect.

railway, station, marshalling hump, car, ideal and non-ideal surfaces, incorrectness of the existing theoretical positions
